Pure Bondage
Images of pure bondage, just a white background, and rope sculpting a human body.
Bondage is freedom. If all you have to define those terms are Websters or the Oxford dictionaries that statement does not ring true. But if you have ever done bondage well, on either end of the rope, bondage is freedom. To really understand this imagine the main constraint to our movement on this planet, gravity. Gravity holds us down and keeps us from flying into the sky. Birds mock us as they defy gravity. But when you think about it without gravity flying would not work for birds. And without gravity we would not be able to run or walk. As we push against the earth with our legs gravity redirects that force into forward motion. Without gravity we would simply fly off the earth and into space, or hopefully into a ceiling.
Like gravity the things that constrain us give us freedom, by giving us something to push against. These constraints give us context to define ourselves and realize things we could not with out that resistance. Bondage done right gives us the ability to fly. Sometimes this flight is metaphorical inside our hearts, sometimes it is literal as we swing across a room. But it gives us a freedom to realize an emotion, physical sensation or state of mind we would never reach without it.
Look through these pages I hope you can see the freedom in these poses. I use the rope to sculpt a human being into a shape they could never sustain nor even assume without the bondage.
